Device Log |
This function displays a history of connection attempts between the selected device and Valiant’s servers, for the specified date range.
Selecting the Device Log function from the Global menu displays the Device Log page.

1. Select the desired Device Type and Device name from the drop-down boxes.
2. Enter the Start and End dates of the period you wish to report on.
3. Click .
The system returns a list of connection attempts by date and time, with the success or failure of each connection attempt.
The system is programmed to attempt a connection three times at a frequency determined by the polling settings.
If unsuccessful after three tries, the system will "ping" (send test data) the device. If the device fails to return test data after a "ping", the system will suspend polling the device for 15 minutes, then repeat the process.

Note
If the system fails to return any messages in the Device Log, the Device is not properly connected to the system. You may also view the status of a device by using the Device Management function in ValLink.
If the system displays messages but not the requested Start and End dates, your request dates may be archived because they are too far (more than two days) in the past. Set the flag to display the requested dates.
